Mosaic MakeAce-Call-to-AceIt-Redirector

Die Simulationswelten neuer Routen für Microsoft Train Simulator (MSTS) bzw. Open Rail Trains Simulator (ORTS) werden immer realistischer: Bessere Modelle, schöner gestaltete Umwelt, usw. Was aber immer ain wenig hinterdrein zu bleiben scheint, ist die Qualität der Bodentexturen. Dabei mangelt es aber weniger and den künstlerischen Fertigkeiten der Routenbauer, als an den Limits, die MakeAce bei der Konvertierung von Texturen aus Mosaic setzt: 512x512 Pixel!

Ein anderes Programm, AceIt, setzt keine solchen Limits und ist damit viel besser für die Konvertierung ins ACE format geeignet. Aber wie verwendet man es mit Mosaic? - Mit dieser Utility!

 

Als einfaches Drop-In für MakeAce muss man nur mehr Mosaic den neuen Ort von "MakeAce" mitteilen und diesem "Fake Makeace" Programm sagen, wo AceIt zu finden ist. Fertig!

The virtual worlds of new routes for  Microsoft Train Simulator (MSTS) and Open Rail Trains Simulator (ORTS), respectively, are getting ever more realistic: Better modelling work, more detailed Scenery and so on. Yet the Quality of TerrTex art seems to be unable to keep pace with the advances oin other areas of scenery modelling. It, however, is not a lack of artists' capabilities that creates this lack of quality. Rather, it is the limits MakeAce imposes upon converting textures created in Mosaic: 512x512 pixels!

Another program, AceIt, however, does not impose such limits. Thus, it could be used to convert higher-resolution ACE textures. But how to use it with Mosaic? - Use this Utility!

 

A simple drop-in for MakeAce, all you need to do is tell Mosaic the new location of "MakeAce" and indicate to this "Fake Makeace", where to look for AceIt. Done!


Voraussetzungen

  • Betriebssystem: getestet unter Windows 7; Kompatibilität für andere Windows Versionen nicht bestätigt, sollte aber auf allem zwischen XP und 8 laufen; nicht für frühere Windows-Systeme entwickelt; nicht lauffähig unter MAC, Linux etc. - AUSSCHLIEßLICH FÜR WINDOWS ENTWICKELT    
  • Speicher: < 1 MB Festplatten-Speicher    
  • Prozessor, Grafik: keine speziellen Anforderungen
  • Mosaic & AceIt NICHT inkludiert!

Requirements

  • OS: testes on Windows 7; Compatibility to other versions of Windows not tested, program should, however, be able to run on anything from XP to 8; not developed for ealier Windows OSs; will not run on MAC, Linux etc. - EXPLICITLY FOR WINDOWS
  • HDD: < 1 MB on-drive
  • CPU, GPU: no special requirements
  • Mosaic & AceIt NOT included!

Installation

Als ZIP Archiv:

  1. Datei auf Festplatte herunterladen; Speicherort merken!
  2. Rechtsklick auf ZIP-Archiv -> Alle Extrahieren...
  3. "Dateien nach Extrahierung anzeigen" anhaken
  4. Extrahieren
  5. In Einstellungen von Mosaic den Pfad zu MakeAce auf die neue "Fake MakeAce.exe" setzen (siehe Dokumentation von Mosaic)
  6. AceIt.ini im Installationsornder der "Fake MakeAce.exe" mit einem ASCII-Editor (MS Editor) öffnen und unter Anführungszeichen (") den Pfad zu AceIt.exe hineinkopieren. NICHT NÖTIG, wenn die "Fake MakeAce.exe" und AceIt direkt in den Ordner von Mosaic installiert wurden.
  7. Speichern und fertig!

Abhängig von der verwendeten Windows-Version kann diese Prozedur geringfügig abweichen. Anweisungen nach Win7-Schema erstellt.

As ZIP Archive:

  1. Download file to HDD; remember location!
  2. Right-click ZIP-Archive -> Extract all...
  3. Tick "Show files after extraction"
  4. Extract
  5. In settings of Mosaic set path of MakeAce to the new "fake MakeAce.exe" (see documentation of Mosaic)
  6. Open AceIt.ini in the installation-directory of the "fake MakeAce.exe" with an ASCII-editor (MS Editor) and insert between double quotes (") the path to AceIt.exe. NOT NECESSARY, if "fake MakeAce.exe" and AceIt have directly been installed to Mosaic´s installation-directory.
  7. Save and that´s it!

The names of the buttons to cklick do not necessarily match what they are really called, depending on OS and also my limited knowledge of English Windows. Instructions according to Win7-scheme of installtion.
